P VISAS (Immigration and Nationality Act Section 101(2)(15)(P)) -

P-1: This temporary nonimmigrant visa is for foreign people coming to the United States to:

  • Perform as an athlete individually or a part of a team at a competition with an internationally recognized level of performance, or

  • Perform with an entertainment group that is internationally recognized in its field, or

P-2: Perform in a reciprocal exchange program between a US organization and or more foreign exchange organizations, or

P-3: Perform, teach or coach on a program that is culturally unique, or

P-4: For spouse or children of the P visa holder. WHAT MUST THE EMPLOYER DO? The Employer or Agent must file a Petition for a P visa with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

The Petition must include the written contract of employment or a summary of the employment contract. Additionally, supporting documentation proving distinguished achievement or significant international recognition. Consult with an experienced immigration attorney to determine if the P visa is appropriate in your situation.
