Success Stories From Our LGBT Clients
Congratulations to our two LGBT clients, one who received asylum and the other received withholding of removal yesterday from the Immigration Judge. The clients were able to prove past persecution and a well founded fear of future persecution based on their sexual orientation. One client was granted asylum and may adjust status to lawful permanent residence after one year. The other client was granted withholding of removal, a lesser form of immigration relief with a higher burden of proof, which was the only relief available to the client because of a prior order of expedited removal. That client may now remain in the U.S. with work authorization.
